James Wright & family
Tokyo, Japan
James Wright serves as a tentmaker missionary in Tokyo, Japan, where he lives with his Japanese wife and four daughters. Professionally, he works as a Design Consultant, but his greater calling is gospel ministry.
James is an elder at Grace City Church Tokyo, counseling and mentoring church members. He also leads Menistry, a growing men’s outreach ministry serving businessmen, students, and retirees in one of the most isolated nations in the world. With nearly 40% of Japanese people reporting loneliness and suicide rates among the highest globally, Menistry seeks to bring gospel-centered accountability, mentorship, and brotherhood.
In addition, James teaches and preaches at Shin-Urayasu Megumi Church, serving both English-speaking and bilingual communities, and is pursuing a Master of Divinity at Metro Baltimore Seminary (graduating Spring 2029).
James’ vision is to equip men, strengthen churches, and plant gospel seeds in Japan, where less than 1% of the population identifies as Christian. He invites prayer and financial support to expand this ministry, sustain his seminary education, and provide for his family as they serve Christ in Tokyo.
Partner with Us
Your partnership makes ministry in Japan possible. Here’s what your support helps accomplish:
- $50/month – Provides study resources and books for seminary, equipping me to serve with deeper theological training.
- $100/month – Supports Menistry growth: materials, meals, and outreach for men struggling with loneliness and isolation.
- $250/month – Covers one week of family living expenses in Tokyo and bills in America (many expenses still being paid via bank in the US), freeing me to serve without distraction.
- $500/month – Funds leadership training and mentoring for new men’s groups across Tokyo and surrounding churches and enables long-term ministry stability: sustaining our family, seminary education, and the expansion of gospel work in Japan.
One-time gifts also go directly toward ministry expansion, seminary tuition, and building a sustainable future for the gospel in Tokyo.
